We are well into the first month of the new year and there is a lot of snow on the ground here in the mid-Western United States. Millions of snowflakes falling from the sky can make one think of all the unique reasons writers have for writing that book they dream about. And all the unique stories out there waiting to be told. There are a million reasons to write. What is yours?
This new year is off to a running start with the launch of the updated website. I don't know if it is the brand new look and feel, layout, or all the new content available, but so far there is a lot of new interest all across the board - from writers, authors, editors, agents, publishers and service partners for everything you need to write, publish, and distribute a book. They are looking for authors and new books to support! Check it out if you haven't seen the new WC. The plan is for this to be the big year we ramp up in size and support more quickly - get more exposure in the industry - and in turn, more attention for authors like you!
This is what we have been up to and what is in store for the first quarter of 2023:
New featured partners. Service providers are now our partners! We are covering the bases on everything you need from writing to publishing, marketing and distribution, and everything in between. There is something for everyone including custom packages to fit any author's book publishing budget.
Featured authors. Check out our latest featured authors and new one every month! Currently we have Adam Richardson and his book interview for "Famous Things." If you have just self-published a book or have a new book you are promoting now that will be available soon, we want to hear from you! Send an email to more@writers-connection.com to request an author interview.
Giveaways. We began the year with giving away Amazon gift cards from the 12 Days of Christmas contest. Every new author to sign up and all existing members are eligible to win a free one hour book consultation! A new winner is selected at the end of every month to help the with their book writing and publishing plans. Maybe it will be you!
Twitter Tweet-chats. A new year of Tweet Chats on the topic of writing and editing tool reviews. We just had on Grammarly and you can find the article about it on the blog under the Insights section of the website. We also have a new time on Monday's, moving back an hour to 8pm EST (5 Pacific, 6 Mountain, 7 Central). Bring your #WIP and write alongside other authors and writers while learning new tips.
Writers Connecting with Readers. Submit your book to be included in a monthly "best of" alongside other great authors. See the current self-published books featured on the website homepage. These change frequently as there are so many new self-published books to share.
Guest bloggers. We have several new guest bloggers! To be considered, write and submit a roughly 1000 word post on your experience writing, editing, or publishing a book (or all three) or on a topic related to writing and publishing a book to more@writers-connection.com. We also consider articles on the topic of writing, editing, publishing and book distribution.
Social media: Follow Writers' Connection on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram! A lot of information and conversation happens on these spaces and the best topics are covered on the website under resources and in the blog. We are adding new followers every day!
Housekeeping:
Periodically log in to your WC account to see what's new on the homepage, blog, and in resources for authors.
Update your profile with your latest book deets and contact info. Add any new books you are working on this year. We have a new enhanced profile with a few additional questions, so login and check that you have the latest version live. And treat your profile like a resume. Give as much detail as you can as you may attract one or more publishers and publishing professionals.
Drop us a line and let us know if you receive any inquiries from publishers or agents through the website.
Spread to the word to your author friends to join and support us - we need all the support we can get to become the go-to source for all things writing and publishing!
Thank you for your continued support! We need each and every one of you and your books to make this community a success. And we can't wait to share and read your future books!
Your friend in words,
Anne M. Carroll
